Since Patricia opened her
first office in 1987, it has been her mission to provide a caring and safe professional  atmosphere for every client she sees. She works closely with clients to identify specific issues and goals that will be the focus of therapy, and then assists them in developing effective strategies for accomplishing their goals. Her approach to therapy is eclectic and interactive; and her work is characterized by warmth and humor that puts her clients at ease. Professionally and personally, she believes in compassionate accountability; and she has a deep respect for those who are willing to face the challenges of self evaluation and change. She offers a broad range of treatment choices, with some clients addressing specific troublesome behaviors and negative thoughts, while others work through traumatic life experiences, grieve losses, and gain insight they need to permanently change unhealthy behavior or relationship patterns.

Patricia earned her B.S. degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, graduating Magna Cum Laude and earning UTC's 1979 Academic Merit Award. Prior to graduation, she served one year each as President and Vice President of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and was nominated for UTC's 1979 Community Service Award. She earned her M.A. in Clinical & Community Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, in 1986 and completed her clinical internship at a local mental health center. Following licensure by the North Carolina Psychology Board in 1987, she began work in two private practice settings in Charlotte. She opened her first independent office in 1988; and established her current practice Fairview Psychological Services, P.A. in 1989. In addition to being licensed as a psychologist by the North Carolina Psychology Board, she is a Certified Health Service Provider - P.A. in North Carolina. She has served as an Executive Board Member and Chair of the Legal Committee for the North Carolina Association of Professional Psychologists and as a Board Member for the Charlotte Psychotherapy Consortium. Additional professional activities include workshop presentations, clinical supervision and consultation for other professional therapists, and interviews concerning professional information and opinion for newspaper articles and television news clips focusing on her areas of expertise. She has also provided expert testimony in non-criminal court cases.

Patricia offers a free initial phone consultation as an important first step in establishing a good therapy relationship and a successful therapy outcome.  A personal conversation before coming in provides an opportunity to ask questions, establish rapport, and ease the anxiety that often accompanies a first appointment. She welcomes your call any time at (704) 362-2618. Back to Top
